Blog covers ‘local’ writing

 Kate Asche

With a few mighty keystrokes, Kate Asche launched a blog last week on the topic of “local” writing in the Sacramento area.

Of course, creative writing can take you places — like to the Pacific Coast. Asche penned her first entries “live” from the Tomales Bay Workshop, a UC Davis Extension program developed in conjunction with English lecturer Pam Houston.

So, if you feel like basking in some rays of literary light, visit Asche’s blog at www.ucdewriting.blogspot.com.

When she is not writing poetry or essays, Asche works as the associate director of Arts and Humanities at UC Davis Extension. She describes herself as having “the fantastic job of coordinating programs such as the Tomales Bay Workshops, our Creative Writing Certificate Program and our Special Studies Program in Nonfiction Writing.”

Asche holds a master’s degree in creative writing from UC Davis.

Why did she start the blog?

“I needed a more responsive medium,” she wrote. “So, here I am, pledging to keep you in the loop with all I am hearing about what’s hot, what’s fun, and what’s coming up in our local writing world and beyond.”
