Physics professor emeritus Glen Erickson, right, helps a young visitor from Sacramento take a look at the night sky. This summer, the UC Davis Astronomy Club is holding sky viewings from 10 to 11 p.m. Wednesday nights Aug. 7, 14 and 21, and Sept. 4 , 11 and 18 at the Hutchison Observatory, located on the roof of Hutchison Hall.
On clear nights, visitors to the observatory should be able see Jupiter, Comet Hale-Bopp and various deep-sky objects through the observatoryÕs 12.5-inch telescope and charged-couple device camera. Viewings are open to the public and free.
