The $60.9 million state-of-the-art Center for the Arts, scheduled to open in fall 2002, will be funded through a combination of university funds and private donations. At last weeks festivities, the Rumsey Indian Rancheria tribal council announced a $625,000 gift to the performance hall. Earlier in the day, a brunch was held in honor of Chancellor Emeritus James Meyer, who long envisioned such a center. His former student assistants and members of the James H. Meyer Fellows gathered to announce their naming of the centers Orchestra Circle, 200 of the halls best seats.
